Daniel R. Lueders, MD
Daniel R. Lueders, MD is a board-certified sports medicine physician. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri, where he also received his medical degree. Dr. Lueders completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and served as chief resident at Mayo Clinic. He then completed additional fellowship
training at Mayo Clinic in sports medicine and advanced musculoskeletal and diagnostic ultrasound.
Dr. Lueders is a consultant for the Pittsburgh Steelers, assisting in diagnostic ultrasound evaluation and regenerative medicine interventions. He serves Little League International, the largest youth sports program in the world, as a director on the Little League International Board of Directors. In 2021, he successfully chaired the Little League International Pandemic Response Advisory Commission.
Dr. Lueders’ practice focuses on the non-surgical management of sports medicine conditions, joint disorders, and tendon disorders. He specializes in the application of diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to make complicated and
challenging diagnoses and in the application of innovative advanced ultrasound guided interventions, including
injection therapies, percutaneous needle tenotomy for tendon disorders, and ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release.
Dr. Lueders also specializes in the application of orthobiologic agents such as platelet-rich plasma and bone marrow
aspirate concentrate for joint preservation and for tendon and ligament disorders.
Dr. Lueders is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and in sports medicine. He is a Fellow of the
American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He has lectured and has instructed on sports ultrasound and regenerative medicine locally and nationally. He instructs UPMC Sports Medicine fellows and has served as the assistant director for the PM&R Sports Medicine Fellowship.
