Once you have decided to have surgery, you may call Jessica at (412) 784-5793. If you have a specific day in mind, please notify Jessica and she will make every attempt to accommodate your request. Most of your surgery scheduling will be handled by our office including the pre-certification of your surgery with the insurance company. If you are scheduling your surgery in person, you will be given a packet with instructions for your surgery, as well as a map to the hospital where you will be having your operation. If you are scheduling your surgery by phone your surgery packet will be mailed to you.

All surgeries are performed by Dr. Mauro himself. Dr. Mauro’s physicians assistant, Michelle assists him in surgery along with an experienced team of operating room nurses who work exclusively with Dr. Mauro on his cases. After your surgery, Dr. Mauro will speak with both you and your family. Michelle will call you at home the following day to see how you are progressing. You will be given written instructions regarding postoperative guidelines to follow and return appointments.

Michelle will give you instructions regarding physical therapy (if applicable) prior to your discharge from the hospital or after your first post-operative visit along with a written prescription that needs to be presented to your physical therapist at your first visit. If at any time you, your family, or your therapist has questions regarding your care please direct them to Michelle by phone at (412) 784-5792.

Physician Assistant

Dr. Mauro works closely with a physician assistant- Michelle Milgrub PA-C. With the demands of a physician’s time in today’s health care environment, it is difficult to perform every facet of each patient’s care. Besides office visits and surgery there are many tasks that the physician assistant manages and assists with patient care.

Dr. Mauro has great faith in Michelle’s training and ability to assist him in patient care. Occasionally the patients will speak with Michelle on the phone or see her in the office during their post-op care. If at any time you would like to speak with or see Dr. Mauro, please do not hesitate to ask. He is always available to his patients when necessary.
