Ultrasound-Guided Carpal Tunnel Release at UPMC St. Margaret

The second most common type of surgery in the country – carpal tunnel release – is now offered at UPMC St. Margaret in a less invasive form that permits earlier return to work and to activity.

Knee Arthroscopy

Knee arthroscopy is a surgery that uses a tiny camera to visualize and repair the tissues inside the knee joint. Disorders that we commonly treat with knee arthroscopy include ACL tears, meniscus tears, patellar instability, and knee cartilage injuries.

Knee Replacement

Knee replacement is surgery to replace the bones of the knee joint with metal and plastic parts. We perform partial (unicompartmental) and total knee replacements to treat knee arthritis.

Shoulder Arthroscopy

Shoulder arthroscopy is a surgery that uses a tiny camera to visualize and repair the tissues inside the shoulder joint. Disorders that we commonly treat with shoulder arthroscopy include rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, and shoulder labral and biceps tears.

Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder replacement is surgery to replace the bones of the shoulder joint with metal and plastic parts. We perform partial (hemiarthroplasty), total, and reverse shoulder replacements to treat various arthritic conditions of the shoulder.

Hip Arthroscopy

Hip arthroscopy is a surgery that uses a tiny camera to visualize and repair the tissues inside the hip joint. Disorders that we commonly treat with hip arthroscopy include femoroacetabular impingement and hip labral tears.

Elbow Repair and Reconstruction

Open and arthroscopic surgeries are used to repair tissues around the elbow joint. Elbow disorders that we commonly treat include ulnar collateral ligament tears, distal biceps tears, and tennis elbow (epicondylitis).

Sports Medicine Injuries

Common sports medicine injuries include joint sprains, muscle injuries, stress fractures, and tendinitis. They may be managed nonsurgically with braces, injections, and physical therapy or, when appropriate, with surgical procedures.

Fractures

Bone fractures or “breaks” may occur throughout the upper and lower extremity. They are managed with splints, casts, or surgery, depending on the fracture.
